Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: Specs, Cameras, Battery and Price Compared

The Google Pixel 11 and Samsung Galaxy S26 cost almost exactly the same in the US – $899 and $899.99 for 256GB – but they are built differently. On the official spec sheets, the Pixel 11 has the bigger battery, a 5x telephoto camera and faster Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging, while the Galaxy S26 is smaller and lighter, supports Wi-Fi 7 and offers a wider choice of AI assistants.

Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26: price and release date

Google announced the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL on August 12, 2026, and the phones reached shelves on August 20. According to Google’s Pixel 11 launch post, the standard Pixel 11 starts at $899. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 is the older phone: it was unveiled on February 25 and went on general sale on March 11, 2026, starting at $899.99, according to Samsung’s US launch announcement.

Both base prices buy 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, and both phones are offered with 512GB for more. That makes this one of the most even head-to-heads in Android this year: the choice comes down to hardware and software, not price.

Pixel 11 vs Galaxy S26 specs compared

This table is built from Google’s Pixel 11 tech specs page and the spec sheet in Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series launch release. Google lists the Pixel’s size and weight in inches and ounces for the US store; we have kept Google’s figures and added approximate metric conversions.

Design and display

Both phones use a 6.3-inch OLED panel, so on screen size alone there is no difference. Google gives more detail on its panel: a 1080 x 2424 resolution at 422 pixels per inch, up to 2,000 nits for HDR content and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness under Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Samsung describes the S26’s screen as FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptive refresh rate that ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz, and lists Samsung’s Vision Booster feature.

The bigger physical difference is weight. Samsung lists the Galaxy S26 at 167 g and 7.2 mm thick. Google lists the Pixel 11 at 6.9 oz, roughly 196 g, and about 0.3 inches thick. If you want the lighter phone in the pocket, the Galaxy wins clearly on paper.

Google’s design change this year is the camera bar. The company says it cut the bar’s thickness by 40% starting with Pixel 11, so the phone sits almost flat in a Made by Google case. The Pixel 11 uses a satin metal frame with a polished glass back.

Performance: Tensor G6 vs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The Pixel 11 runs Google’s own Tensor G6, which Google calls its fastest and most powerful chip and which runs the latest Gemini Nano on-device model. Google has not published a like-for-like benchmark against Qualcomm or Samsung chips, so this comparison sticks to the published specifications.

The Galaxy S26 is more complicated. Samsung’s spec sheet lists both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and the Exynos 2600 for the S26 and S26+, with a note that the chip “may vary by device and market.” Samsung’s published performance figures (up to 19% faster CPU, 39% faster NPU and 24% faster GPU than the previous generation) refer specifically to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s custom Snapdragon, not the base model. Before you buy, check which processor is sold in your country.

Both phones pair their chip with 12GB of RAM, and Google’s 512GB Pixel 11 uses what it calls Zoned UFS storage for faster performance.

Cameras: 5x zoom vs 3x zoom

This is the clearest hardware split between the two. The Pixel 11 has a 10.8 MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom and optical image stabilisation, and Google says it supports Super Zoom up to 30x. The Galaxy S26 has a 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and Samsung describes its 50 MP main sensor as delivering 2x “optical quality” zoom, enabled by its Adaptive Pixel sensor.

• Main: Pixel 11 uses a 48 MP f/1.7 sensor measuring 1/1.56 inch; Galaxy S26 uses a 50 MP f/1.8 sensor (Samsung does not list the sensor size).
• Ultrawide: 13 MP on Pixel versus 12 MP on Galaxy, both f/2.2.
• Selfie: 10.5 MP with autofocus on Pixel versus 12 MP on Galaxy.
• Video: Google lists 4K at up to 60fps on the rear and front cameras, 10-bit HDR video and slow motion up to 240fps.

On software, Google leans on features such as Camera Coach, Add Me, Magic Eraser and editing with Ask Photos. Samsung’s answer is its Photo Assist suite, which lets you describe edits in plain language, such as changing a scene from day to night or cleaning a stain off clothing. Which produces better photos is a question for side-by-side testing; the spec sheets alone cannot answer it.

Battery life and charging

The Pixel 11 carries a noticeably larger battery: 4,985 mAh typical versus 4,300 mAh on the Galaxy S26. Google rates the Pixel for “30+ hour” battery life; Samsung does not give an hours figure in its spec sheet. Capacity is not the whole story, since efficiency depends on the chip and software, but it is a meaningful 16% difference on paper.

Wired charging is a draw. Both companies quote up to 55% in about 30 minutes, Google with a 30W or faster USB-C PPS charger and Samsung with its 25W adapter. Neither phone includes a charger in the box.

Wireless is where the Pixel pulls ahead. The Pixel 11 has built-in magnets (Google calls it Pixelsnap) and is Qi2.2-certified for up to 25W wireless charging, which is new to Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro this year. The Galaxy S26 supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and can charge other devices with Wireless PowerShare, but Samsung’s spec sheet does not list a Qi2 magnetic standard for the base model.

Software, AI and updates

The Pixel 11 launched on Android 17 and gets new features first through Google’s Pixel Drops. Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. Its AI features are built around Gemini, which Google brands Gemini Intelligence on these phones, with Gemini Nano running on the device.

The Galaxy S26 launched on Android 16 with One UI 8.5 and is now receiving One UI 9, Samsung’s Android 17-based update; our One UI 9 rollout tracker has the latest on when it reaches each model. Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. Galaxy AI lets you choose between Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity as agents, and adds Samsung features such as Now Nudge and Now Brief.

Because the Galaxy S26 came out in March and the Pixel 11 in August, the Pixel’s seven-year clock started roughly five months later. In practice, that means the Pixel 11 should be supported slightly longer if both companies deliver on their promises.

Connectivity and other differences

• Wi-Fi: the Galaxy S26 supports Wi-Fi 7; the Pixel 11 tops out at Wi-Fi 6E. That only matters if you have, or plan to buy, a Wi-Fi 7 router.
• Bluetooth: Samsung lists Bluetooth 5.4 on the S26 (the S26+ gets 6.0); Google lists Bluetooth 6 on the Pixel 11.
• USB: Google lists USB-C 3.2 on the Pixel 11.
• SIM: Google’s US spec sheet lists dual eSIM, with support for storing eight or more eSIM profiles.
• Safety: Google lists Satellite SOS, Car Crash Detection and theft protection among the Pixel 11’s safety features.
• Security: Google highlights the Titan M3 chip and quantum-safe secure boot; Samsung highlights Knox, Knox Vault and post-quantum cryptography for system processes.

Pixel 11 or Galaxy S26: which should you buy?

Buy the Pixel 11 if…

• You want 5x optical zoom at this price.
• Battery capacity matters more to you than weight.
• You want magnetic Qi2.2 wireless charging accessories without a case.
• You prefer Google’s clean Android and first access to new Android and Gemini features.

Buy the Galaxy S26 if…

• You want a lighter, thinner phone: 167 g against roughly 196 g.
• You already have, or plan to buy, a Wi-Fi 7 router.
• You like choosing between Gemini, Perplexity and Bixby, or already rely on Samsung’s own apps and Galaxy accessories.
• You find it discounted: the S26 has been on sale since March, so it is worth checking current retailer pricing before you pay full price.

Bottom line

At $899 each, neither phone is the obvious winner on paper. The Pixel 11 has the more capable camera hardware for zoom, the bigger battery and better wireless charging. The Galaxy S26 is lighter, has faster Wi-Fi and gives you more AI choice. Pick the Pixel if camera reach and endurance come first; pick the Galaxy if comfort in the hand and Samsung’s ecosystem matter more.
