OnePlus scaled back its retail presence in some Western markets over the past year, and nothing in the September 28 announcement changed that picture — every detail released so far, including the launch date itself, applies specifically to the China market.

OnePlus branded the September 28 event around gaming performance rather than a full product reveal, which is consistent with how the company has handled its last few numbered-series launches: a dedicated gaming-focused conference a couple of weeks ahead of the retail launch, followed by the full unveiling with complete specs, pricing, and pre-order details. Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset

OnePlus confirmed the OnePlus 16 will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the higher of two new flagship chips Qualcomm unveiled at its own Snapdragon Summit in September 2026 (the other being the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6). Game-by-game frame-rate support is a claim OnePlus itself is making about optimization partnerships, and — as with any manufacturer's own performance marketing — it's worth treating the specific list of supported titles as OnePlus's claim until independent testing confirms sustained frame rates after release.

Design and colors: already revealed ahead of the conference

If the unconfirmed 9,000mAh battery figure holds up on October 12, that would represent a meaningful capacity increase over the OnePlus 15, which is part of why that number is worth watching even while it remains unofficial.

Battery and charging: not yet officially confirmed
